2023 Season Trophy Awards Evening - Saturday 16th March 24
A very enjoyable evening was held at the Clubhouse on Saturday evening of the 16th to hand out the trophies for the winners of the 2023 sailing racing season.
The trophies were collated and engraved for the record by sailing sec Tim Landles, and junior convener Nathan Franklin, and put on display in the club ready, with a sporty chequered backdrop and SBSC club pennant centre stage. The evening commenced with the Junior trophy presentations and then followed by the senior cups and series trophies. Cup events in 2023 were all raced for by the three individual fleets that has given one of the widest spread of racers names on the trophies and produced the biggest cheer of the evening. This method will continue for 2024. Attached is the final trophy roster in alphabetical order. The names on the senior trophy roster range from the euphemistically classed masters to the genuinely youthful and variety in between, which is great to see.
The last trophy presented for the evening was for the inaugural Club Super Cup 23 a fun series being the results of every race in the season. As the cup is physically large all three fleet winners and the overall winner were recorded on it and therefore three racers received it jointly with a request for no arguing over whos mantle piece it will take pride of place on. Thank you to the social team for putting on the excellent (free) cold meats buffet and accompanying lubrication from the bar which all went down very well. Departed SBSC racers were remembered, the present celebrated, and the future already planned. In 2024 we have water at reasonable times, fingers crossed for the wind and weather. Thank you to all those who attended, racers, social members, family and friends, and see you in the club or on the water in 24.
