Sailability Volunteers
Sailability Volunteers
Snettisham beach sailing club is offering the opportunity for people with disabilities to
experience sailing. This could be just a trip out on the lake, an introduction to sailing or the beginning of a new adventure learning to become a very competent sailor. We have two Hansa dinghies and two Wayfarer dinghies adapted for this purpose.
We will need the support of volunteers to provide this facility.
Volunteers do not need to be sailors; this is only required for those who will be accompanying sailability clients or helming in the dinghies.
There will be Disability Awareness training offered to all volunteers and volunteers will need to be DBS checked. There will also training on offer for other roles, such as hoist operation.
We will be offering this facility every Friday afternoon, from April through to October. It is
anticipated that there will be groups of people attending from various organisation, with or
without carers. We will also be taking bookings from individuals.
Volunteers will not be called upon to attend every week. We hope to maintain a good size
pool of volunteers who can be rostered on weeks which suite them.
The aim is for everyone, clients and volunteers to have an enjoyable social afternoon.
