Learning To Sail

In 2007 SBSC became recognised as a RYA Training Centre. This enables us to run certified courses for juniors and adults alike. Our Chief Instructor, is Jack Pearce an experienced RYA Dinghy Instructor and Powerboat Instructor, who is supported by Fergus Barnham and Alex Daniels who are qualified Dinghy Instructors and Club Race Coaches. Last year we were awarded Volvo Championship Club Status in addition to becoming an OnBoard Centre.

Courses we run:

Youth Sailing Scheme: Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3 and Stage 4.
Dinghy Level 1 & Level 2
Seamanship Skills
Start Racing
Sailing with Spinnakers
Power Boat level 1
Power Boat level 2
Safety Boat

In addition to the above we are able to offer bespoke 3-hour lessons for up to 3 people either on the lake or sea. If you want to see if you like sailing or hone a certain skill then this is for you.

The club now has an impressive fleet of boats for training comprising: six club Toppers, a Wayfarer and Laser 2000 which are available to hire for any of the above courses.
