The primary boats used by juniors racing on the lakes are Toppers, sturdy indestructible boats with a small cockpit and a single sail, and capable of being reefed to help on windier days!
Some of the younger member of the junior fleet sail optimists single handed, or mirrors with parents. This year we have use of the Eastern Regions fleet of 6 Optibats which will be used by the smaller members who are beginning to learn.
As juniors grow more confident (and too big for toppers) they have progressed to Laser Ones with a full or radial sail and join in the club racing on the sea. |
