Junior Sailing

Snettisham Beach Sailing Club has a large number of junior members whose abilities range from complete novice through to very experienced. Indeed we have a member of the GBR Topper Squad who learnt to sail at our club.

We are very fortunate as we have inland water in the form of flooded gravel pits which offer safe sailing and an ideal location for beginner tuition. Most of the children sail a single-handed Topper dinghy, which is virtually indestructible, allowing the children to learn and play without fear of damage. Other boats sailed are Optomists, Mirrors and some of the more experienced juniors sail Lasers on the tide.

The juniors have their own programme of events and racing, mostly on the lake but occasionally on the sea. The season is bursting with activities for the juniors, including complimentary lessons at the beginning of the season, a 3 day Kick-start weekend in May, series races each month and a Cadet Week in August. The season ends at the end of August with a Junior Presentation Evening when all the silverware for the various races is handed out, with a meal and music it is always a fantastic way to round off the summer.

SBSC are able to offer bespoke 3 hour lessons for up to 3 people either on the lake or sea. If you want to try sailing contact Katie Daniels our RYA Principal, on 07885-671342 or email  who will be able to advise on the RYA courses or private lessons available at SBSC.
