Duty Roster Duty Rotas and DutyMan
Any club runs on the strength and support of its members. Snettisham Beach Sailing Club is no different to any other club and the club relies on the expertise and availability of you, the membership, to staff not only our sailing program but also events for juniors. Without you doing your duties it would be impossible to run the programs we currently have in place.
Any member can receive help and guidance with their duties if required. Kindly note that it is your responsibility to organise a swap of duties in the event that you are unable to attend. Please do not contact a committee member and expect a replacement to be found. Racing could be forced to be cancelled or life put at risk if you do not attend or find a suitable replacement.
If we cannot find enough members to undertake duties we will have to reduce the size of club sailing and events. If you look at the total duty program in Dutyman you will see how much we rely on members to volunteer.

DutyMan Information
All active sailing members at SBSC can expect to be rostered for duties and DutyMan will send out two emails in advance of given duties. It is therefore important that your email is up-to-date with the Club. Please log on to Dutyman (link at bottom of page) and "tick" your duty to confirm your attendance, choose another vacant duty, or flag up "swap wanted"
Duties
We ask that you arrive 45 minutes before the start time of the race to allow for setting up / preparation. The length of racing depends largely on the tide, but would usually be around 2 hours on both sea and pit.
Safety Boat Helm and Crew
Please both read Safety boat operating procedures click for link
Helm: This duty will be allocated to members who hold Powerboat 2 or Safetyboat Certificates. Don't forget your radio !
Crew: This duty does not require any previous experience. Firstly you will assist helm to launch the RIB, then you will go afloat with the helm to assist with buoy laying, monitor the sailing and watch for any sailing incident. Please ensure you have a number of layers on including water/windproof jacket. We have buoyancy aids and spray tops availabe in the classroom. Note: in emergency you may be required to enter the water. At the end of sailing you will bring RIB ashore, wash down, and store in container.
Race Officer (OOD) -This will be a person with experience of running races. Don't forget your radio !

Assistant Race Officer (Assist RO)- This duty does not require any previous experience.
If you are allocated a Sea ARO duty, you will need to ensure you have a number of layers on including water/windproof jacket as you will be going afloat on the committee boat. We have buoyancy aids and spray tops availabe in the classroom. You will be working under the lead of the RO, hoisting and lowering flags, writing times and laps on race sheets.
Junior racing is largely on the pits and will not require you going afloat as racing is done from the mast on the shore. If you are allocated Junior Assist OOD on the sea, you will to onto the committee boat and help the OOD by taking down names and times on race sheet. Ensure you have enough layers if going onto the sea.
Swapping duties online
If you need to swap duties then the preferred method is to use DutyMan. DutyMan is the reference for all duties that have been assigned and should be used to make any changes. To access DutyMan click "DutyMan" link at bottom of this page.
No online access?
If you do not have access to the internet, or an email address (you probably won't be reading this!) but signing-up for duties can still be achieved manually by contacting Fiona Burgess on 077 66 26 86 57 or getting someone to email dutyman@snetbeach.co.uk.
